Scott Christian is an award-winning Toronto-based Musical Director, Composer, Arranger and Pianist. Most recently, he composed A Misfortune, a musical based on the short story by Anton Chekhov, which was part of the 2014 Next Stage Theatre Festival. It is currently in development with Theatre 20 and the Charlottetown Festival. His first musical, Hero & Leander, was a hit at the 2011 Summerworks festival. Scott also composed the music for Through the Gates, which was performed in concert at the 2012 Summerworks Festival. Scott has composed extensively for theatre, dance as well as short film and animation projects. Scott works as musical director and arranger of other people’s shows all over Canada. Selected Musical Director credits include Glenda’s Kitchen and The Voices of Canada(Charlottetown Festival), Once (upcoming), Shrek and The Addams Family (Neptune Theatre), Snow White (Drayton Entertainment), Company(Theatre 20), Rocky Horror (Sudbury Theatre Centre), Marry Me A Little (assistant MD, Tarragon Theatre), The Way Back To Thursday(orchestrator/MD, Theatre Passe Muraille), and Second City Toronto. Scott was the intern musical director at the Shaw Festival in 2012 and had the opportunity to conduct and play piano in their production of Ragtime. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music for piano and composition.
